Women Unite Against Sexual Abuse

Women across the country have been speaking up all across America, holding perpetrators accountable for their sexual crimes. This week, it felt like the church’s turn to join in loudly.

One week ago today, Kay and Rick Warren invited Beth Moore to the stage to address sexual sin from the pulpit. This was a landmark event as the audience watched these three people discuss Helping People Heal From Sexual Abuse (view HERE) One of my favorite quotes from Beth was, It is imperative that you and I learn to differentiate between sexual immorality and sexual criminality. (57:26 in video) Both are sin, but one is sin and the other is both sin and a crime.

Then, on January 31, 2018, Beth posted, Sorting Through the Church’s Silence HERE.

Also, on January 31, 2018, Christianity Today published an interview HERE with Rachael Denhollander.

Rachael was the gymnast who gave the final God glorifying testimony in the historical court case that put team doctor Larry Nassar in prison for the rest of his life. She was last in a line of over 150 survivors that were granted the opportunity to speak. Her speech in court to Nassar went viral HERE Her words were a brilliant expression of forgiveness and accountability woven together in biblical fashion.

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible–and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. Ephesians 5:11-13

I supply these four items together in one cohesive package this week for readers that have been receiving things in scattered form. There is so much going on in the world right now that is frightening, but the light that is exposing sexual crime in society and in the church gives me hope that our daughters (and sons) will never be put in the position of having to speak up about such matters, and if they ever do, they will not be silenced or accused of dishonesty or exaggeration.
