Rest well!

As America enjoys a Labor day weekend — a day designed for rest for the working people — we will keep things simple and restful on the Oaks website too. I hope the extended weekend brings you rest in the form of a more relaxed schedule and naps!

In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.(Psalm 127:2)

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)

I know.

Life often fails to align with holidays, doesn’t it? Perhaps you are working in a hospital, caring for family, tackling a weekend project, or working in the stores providing Labor Day deals that shoppers are eager to seize.

We can always rest in the presence of God.

Knowing He is with us can bring rest to our souls. This weekend, let’s practice inviting God into every moment, no matter what the moment looks like.

I recently saw a sign with these words:

Happy Moments

PRAISE GOD

Difficult Moments

SEEK GOD

Quiet Moments

WORSHIP GOD

Painful Moments

TRUST GOD

Every Moment

THANK GOD

Rest well, hard-working people!

  1. Thank you for the encouragement to rest tomorrow and to stay in a quiet rest in our souls every day. That is something we need strive for! Actually, it is something we need to fight for!

    1. I agree. We have to fight for rest. There will always be something else to do. May we all have God’s wisdom to know when we say no to the other thing and when we say yes.

Planting and Watering

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes growth.
