About a year ago I hurt my shoulders while carrying my dog home. I was taking him for a walk and he went lame at the furthest point from home. I didn’t have my cell phone with me, nor a car. Though 27 pounds isn’t much to carry, the walk was long and my grip was awkward.
The shoulder healed.
Then a few months ago I carried a projector to a classroom at work. Again, the projector wasn’t heavy, but the walk was long and my grip was awkward.
The shoulder didn’t heal.
Then our grandson was determined to crawl but he didn’t know how yet, so I crawled beside him with my arm wrapped around him so I could support him from under his belly. Awkward!
The shoulder griped.
Now I am going to physical therapy. Who has time for that? Ha!
On my first visit last month there was a reality show playing simultaneously on the television in the waiting room and physical therapy room entitled, Unsellable Houses. While I was getting my arms massaged, then doing exercises with embarrassingly tiny weights or large rubber bands, and concluding with ice packs on both shoulders, I watched an episode.
At the very end, I was delighted to watch a young couple enter their home that was once deemed unsellable. Surprise! Their home was now a showcase. Their exuberance was precious. I was so happy for them. The husband said,
“This is all I could have ever dreamed and ten times more!
While ice packs were freezing my shoulders, I found myself thanking God that each of us will be saying his statement sometime in our futures. We will one day live in heaven on earth, and when we look back at how God used our lives on earth for His glory, and when we look around at the glory of our eternity, we will be aghast. Like the husband, we will say,
“This is all I could have ever dreamed and ten times more!”
One day our lives will be unbelievable, maybe a million times better. We will have no more sinful nature to battle again and neither will anyone else. This means no one will ever hurt us again. Every person we meet will fully be who God created them to be. Even better, we will each experience full and perfect intimacy with Jesus too.
There will be no end to the bliss.
No end. Even the most extreme enthusiastic responses on a home re-design show pale in comparison to God’s eternal story. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18)
We should we keep this in mind?
God’s eternal, blissful story for His children is just around the corner. This means we can stay in our current difficult circumstances a little bit longer, right? As I often say, if we knew all of our problems would end at midnight tonight, the anxiety and stress of our difficulties would vanish in an instant. Poof!
This moment will occur in our futures!
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
Picture Explanation: The 27 pound canine that injured me first, then the 25 pound little guy that needed me to teach him how to crawl. Just kidding. It’s a good thing his beautiful mommy is strong and her dog is as light as a feather!
Speaking of living with eternity in mind: If you are interested in being contacted to participate in a One Gritty Blink Bible study, click on the Oaks Ministries link below and send me an email so I can place you on a list to be contacted as online and face-to-face studies are planned. Let’s not just focus on things in this short life, but also what counts for eternity!
Note: No part of my posts are derived from A.I. Thoughts and writing stem from my mind and heart as I process life week-by-week and continue to grow in my understanding of God and how to apply His wisdom to the world around me.

Dear Laurie,
Like many of our brothers and sisters in Christ I yearn for that glorious day when we will be with the Lord. No more sickness or snarky moodiness that comes with being chronically sick. I will rejoice with so many others when we become as he originally intended.
Until then I am thankful because he loves us and still wants us.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your precious family.
Sheila

Well said, and amen!
